Steward Baylor Wins Snowshoe Overall and XC1 - First Mountain Victory

Rocky Mountain Red Bear Kawasaki's Steward Baylor takes his first Yamaha Racing Snowshoe overall and the XC1 Open Pro win on Sunday, June 28 - Riordan second overall with the XC2 win, Ashburn third overall and still points leader at 166.

Steward Baylor finally got the snowboard he's been chasing. On Sunday at the Yamaha Racing Snowshoe GNCC - Round 9 of 13 atop Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia - the Rocky Mountain Red Bear Kawasaki Team Green rider took the overall and the XC1 Open Pro win in 2:43:21.700, his first overall victory at the mountain.

It wasn't a clean walk. Baylor led most of the race, managed a planned mid-race tire swap, and still held off a late charge after the gap he'd built on lap three shrank. When the checkered flag flew, he had the overall, the XC1 win, and a 12-point hole to climb in the title chase - with the series heading into summer break.

Overall podium: Steward, Riordan, Ashburn

Per Racer X overall timing and the official GNCC motorcycle race report (Sunday, June 28, 2026), the top of the sheet looked like this:

  1. Steward Baylor (Kawasaki) - 2:43:21.700 - overall + XC1 Open Pro
  2. Angus Riordan (Honda) - 2:44:27.438 - second overall + XC2 250 Pro win
  3. Jordan Ashburn (Honda) - 2:44:57.890 - third overall + second XC1
  4. Jhak Walker (Beta) - 2:45:25.010 - fourth overall + second XC2
  5. Grant Baylor (Kawasaki) - 2:46:21.959 - fifth overall + third XC1

Grant Baylor's day was a solid brother act, not an overall win: third in XC1 Open Pro and fifth overall for Rocky Mountain Red Bear Kawasaki. Behind the top five, Joshua Toth (Kawasaki), Grant Davis (KTM), Josh Strang (Beta), Craig Delong (Husqvarna), and Benjamin Kelley (KTM) rounded out the overall top 10.

Phoenix Racing Honda's Angus Riordan mixed it with the Open Pros all afternoon and still controlled XC2 250 Pro for the class win and second overall. Teammate Jordan Ashburn rebounded to third overall and second in XC1 - enough to reclaim the Overall National Championship lead heading into the break. Liqui Moly Factory Beta's Jhak Walker took second in XC2 and fourth overall.

Ashburn leads Steward by 12 with four rounds left after the break. The series returns September 18-20 for The Wiseco John Penton GNCC in Millfield, Ohio. On the WXC side Sunday, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Korie Steede took the class win.
