On August 20, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that KTM North America is recalling about 21,040 GASGAS and Husqvarna off-road motorcycles in the United States, plus about 4,140 units in Canada. The hazard is a rear brake caliper that can crack or break, reducing braking effectiveness and creating a crash risk.
CPSC guidance is unambiguous: stop riding immediately and contact an authorized dealer to schedule a free repair. No injuries were reported at the time of the announcement.
Affected coverage spans 2021–2024 GasGas MC/EC/EX/EW models and 2022–2024 Husqvarna TE/FE/FX/TX variants equipped with the subject Braktec rear caliper. Exact VIN eligibility still requires a dealer or OEM recall-check tool — model-year lists alone are not enough.
A day earlier, on August 19, GasGas and Husqvarna published formal manufacturer notices expanding Braktec rear-caliper campaigns across MX, enduro, and cross-country fleets after market monitoring flagged potential failure under load. Related campaigns also appeared in international markets the same day. That manufacturer expansion made the off-road CPSC path explicit and clarified that street-legal dual-sport action was only part of the wider Braktec picture.
