Best in the Desert marked 30 years of Casey Folks Vegas to Reno by running “the other way” — Reno toward Vegas — across roughly 505 miles. On August 15, 2026, Hero Racing’s Ducati Desmo450 EDX team of Ciaran Naran, Callum Norton, and Cody Simpson won Open Pro overall in 7:44:26.755.

According to the official BITD report, that margin was about 34 seconds ahead of Preston Campbell’s JCR Honda. The motorcycle/quad field numbered about 130 entries, with just over half finishing.

For a relatively new off-road platform, the Desmo450 EDX result is a credibility marker in U.S. desert racing. Later OEM follow-up coverage also highlighted additional Desmo450 EDX class wins in Over 30 Pro and Open Amateur at the same event — useful context for the bike story, even though this race report focuses on the Open Pro overall.

Pirelli’s race release noted the winning Ducati ran a Scorpion XC Mid Hard front and Scorpion Rally Race rear; treat that as fitment context, not a tire review.
