2027 Yamaha WR450F: New Engine, Frame, Hydraulic Clutch - $10,499

Yamaha just gave the WR450F a real mechanical year - not a sticker kit. On September 10, 2026, Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA (via Roadracing World’s release reprint) rolled out a 2027 WR built around the latest YZ450F engine and frame, with a hydraulic clutch, revised KYB suspension, and a lighter rear brake. Dealers get it in October in Team Yamaha Blue for $10,499. The WR250F returns unchanged at $9,199.

Think of it as the lights-and-trail sibling to the closed-course YZ450FX: same sticker for 2027, different job. The WR450F stays an off-road / enduro competition trail bike with headlight, taillight, and spark-arrestor muffler - not a street-plated dual-sport.

What actually changed

Ultimate Motorcycling’s first look digs into the sheet. The engine uses the latest YZ450F architecture with a revised intake port, cam timing, heavier AC magneto inertia for stall resistance, and a 51-tooth rear sprocket (was 50). Frame rake moves to 27° with trail at 4.8 in (from 4.3); wheelbase stays 57.9 in. KYB’s shock adds a hand-operated low-speed compression adjuster and a new piston; fork settings are more progressive (11.8 in travel). The hydraulic clutch claims about 15% lighter pull and no trailside cable tweak. Rear disc drops from 240 mm to 220 mm with a smaller master cylinder and new pads - roughly 180 g / 6 oz saved. Dunlop Geomax AT82 replaces the MX33. Wet weight: 256 lb. Power Tuner app traction control, lap timer, ECU lock, and an optional GYTR Competition ECU keep the electronics story current.

Price and availability

Yamaha USA published the number: WR450F $10,499, WR250F $9,199, October dealer arrival, Team Yamaha Blue. California sales status wasn’t confirmed in that first look, so we’re not guessing CARB. BLU CRU contingency eligibility is called out in the Yamaha USA release.

Who should care

If you trail and race enduro on a WR and want YZ450F chassis updates without giving up lights and the wide-ratio five-speed, 2027 is the year to shop. Cross-country racers weighing WR450F vs YZ450FX are choosing lights and equipment versus closed-course intent at the same price. Riders hunting a plated adventure single should look elsewhere - this WR still lives off-road.
