Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA has unveiled a substantially updated 2027 WR450F. Per Yamaha’s September 10, 2026 announcement (as carried by Roadracing World) and Ultimate Motorcycling’s detailed first look, the enduro WR receives a new engine character focused on low- to midrange control, a new aluminum bilateral beam frame shared with the 2027 YZ450F (WR-specific mounts), revised KYB suspension, a hydraulic clutch, and a smaller/lighter rear brake package. Dealers get the bike in October in Team Yamaha Blue at $10,499 MSRP. The WR250F returns for 2027 unchanged at $9,199.

Context: Trail Roamer’s keyword universe lists WR450F as a Priority 1 model. This is the lights-and-trail sibling to the closed-course YZ450FX — same $10,499 sticker for 2027, different job. Do not rewrite this as a dual-sport plate bike; the WR450F remains an off-road/enduro competition trail machine with head/taillight and spark-arrestor muffler, not a street-legal 690-class dual-sport.

What changed (sourced): Engine uses the latest YZ450F architecture with revised intake port, cam timing, heavier AC magneto inertia for stall resistance, and a 51-tooth rear sprocket (was 50). Frame rake moves to 27° with trail at 4.8 in (from 4.3); wheelbase stays 57.9 in. KYB shock adds a hand-operated low-speed compression adjuster and a new piston for low-speed damping; fork settings are more progressive (11.8 in travel). Hydraulic clutch claims ~15% lighter pull and no trailside cable adjust. Rear disc drops from 240 mm to 220 mm with smaller master cylinder/piston and new pads (~180 g / 6 oz saved). Dunlop Geomax AT82 replaces MX33 rubber. Wet weight: 256 lb (Ultimate Motorcycling). Power Tuner app traction control, lap timer, ECU lock, and optional GYTR Competition ECU kit carry the electronics story.

Pricing and availability: Yamaha USA MSRP is published — WR450F $10,499, WR250F $9,199, October dealer arrival, Team Yamaha Blue. Ultimate Motorcycling notes California sales status was not announced in that first look — do not invent CARB availability. BLU CRU contingency eligibility is called out in the Yamaha USA release reprint.

Rider impact: If you trail and race enduro on a WR and want YZ450F chassis updates without giving up lights and the wide-ratio five-speed, MY27 is the real refresh year — not a graphics pack. Cross-country racers comparing WR450F vs YZ450FX now choose on lights/equipment vs closed-course intent at the same price. Dual-sport riders shopping a plated adventure single should look at the 690 Rally packet instead.

Primary outbound reading: Roadracing World’s Yamaha USA release reprint (Sep 10) and Ultimate Motorcycling’s 11-fact first look (Sep 11).
