Suzuki Lowers 2027 DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM US Pricing
Suzuki answers the biggest knock on its new dual sport. For 2027 the DR-Z4S, DR-Z4S+ and DR-Z4SM all start lower, and the hardware is unchanged.

It was the sticker. For 2027, Suzuki finally moved the number that mattered, and the DR-Z4S, the accessory-equipped DR-Z4S+ and the DR-Z4SM supermoto all start $1,000 lower than they did.
Suzuki announced the change itself in its September 15 release on the next wave of 2027 models, which tags all three DR-Z models with "New Price Adjustment" and says Suzuki made strategic price adjustments on select 2027 models in response to evolving market conditions and dealer feedback. The same release covers the GSX-8S, GSX-8R and GSX-S1000.
The three new prices
Suzuki's 2027 DR-Z4S page lists a $7,999 base MSRP plus a $650 destination charge. The release lists the DR-Z4S+ at $8,299, and the 2027 DR-Z4SM page lists the supermoto at $7,999 as well.
Suzuki doesn't print the old prices next to the new ones. RevZilla reports the DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM were previously $8,999 and the DR-Z4S+ was $9,299, which is where the $1,000 figure comes from. The DR-Z4S+ is the same bike with a skid plate, hand guards and front and rear brake rotor guards fitted from the factory, per the release.
Suzuki's MSRP also leaves out taxes, title, license and registration, dealer fees and options, so the number on the paperwork will be higher than the base price.
Why the price moved
The DR-Z4S arrived as the successor to the long-running DR-Z400S with fuel injection, a ride-by-wire throttle, a new twin-spar steel frame, adjustable KYB suspension, LED lighting and Suzuki's S.I.R.S. electronics, including ABS that switches off at both ends. Riders liked the updates. The price was the sticking point.
Suzuki's own explanation is market conditions and dealer feedback. RevZilla adds some showroom math: at the old price, the single-cylinder DR-Zs would have cost more than Suzuki's new SV-7GX V-twin crossover.
What you still get
Nothing in the announcement changes the hardware. Suzuki's DR-Z4S page lists a 398cc four-valve DOHC single with fuel injection through a 42mm ride-by-wire throttle body, a five-speed gearbox with the Suzuki Clutch Assist System and dry sump lubrication carried over from the DR-Z400S. Curb weight is 333 lb and seat height is 36.2 inches. The KYB fork has 11.0 inches of travel and the shock 11.6 inches, on 21 and 18-inch spoked wheels with IRC GP-410 dual purpose tires.
The electronics package includes a three-mode drive mode selector, traction control with a Gravel mode and ABS that Suzuki says can be switched off front and rear, a first for a Suzuki production model. The DR-Z4S comes in Champion Yellow No. 2 with Solid Special White No. 2, or Solid Black.
How it stacks up now
The cut closes the most obvious gap, but it doesn't make the DR-Z4S the cheapest way into a plated dirt bike. RevZilla says the DR-Zs still cost around $2,000 more than their competitors. TopSpeed makes the same point, saying the DR-Z4S remains more expensive than the smaller Japanese dual sports and the KTM 390 Enduro R, while it now looks more competitive against bigger, more serious bikes such as the Honda CRF450RL.
If you were shopping the DR-Z4S for its midsize feel, switchable ABS and its mix of trail and pavement manners, the 2027 price is the first one that doesn't end the conversation on its own. If you just want the least expensive plated dual sport, the smaller 300s are still where to look, and our look at the 2027 Kawasaki KLX300 lineup is a good place to start.
