Team USA Chases Glory at the 100th ISDE in Portugal

The centenary 6DAYS FIM Enduro of Nations runs October 12-17, 2026 in Grândola, Alentejo. The AMA has named U.S. World, Junior, and Women's Trophy teams - plus 21 Club riders - for a return to the country where America last won World and Women's gold in 2019.

The International Six Days of Enduro turns 100 in the cork forests and Atlantic dirt of Portugal's Alentejo region. The official 6DAYS FIM Enduro of Nations site lists the centenary edition for October 12-17, 2026, with race HQ in Grândola and up to roughly 500 riders from more than 30 nations on the entry. For American fans, the story is not just the anniversary. It is what Team USA is chasing when the Stars and Stripes roll back onto Portuguese soil.

The U.S. World Trophy chase

The AMA named Johnny Girroir, Dante Oliveira, Grant Davis, and Steward Baylor to the 2026 U.S. World Trophy team. Girroir and Oliveira return as veterans. Davis steps up from Junior. Baylor is back on the senior squad after previously helping the United States win the Junior World Trophy in 2016, per Enduro21's Team USA report.

"Our World Trophy Team will be a strong contender for sure," U.S. ISDE Team Manager Antti Kallonen said in the AMA release. "Johnny and Dante return with excellent speed and skill, while Grant moves up to the World Trophy Team and Steward rejoining the squad should provide a big boost in our push for the top step of the podium."

Portugal is familiar territory. The last time the Six Days visited the country, in Portimão in 2019, the United States won both the World Trophy and the Women's World Trophy and finished runner-up in Junior, according to Enduro21. The FIM 6DAYS preview likewise notes that U.S. win on the last Portuguese visit. Both American Trophy teams finished fourth in 2025, and the AMA frames the men's and Junior squads as aiming for a return to the podium.

Juniors and the Women's four-peat bid

The Junior World Trophy lineup is Cooper Jones, Jason Tino, and Toby Cleveland. "Our Junior Team will also be competitive, even with some new faces," Kallonen said. "We are strategically bringing in younger, fast riders and developing them for the future over the next several years. Cooper, Toby, and Jason have all demonstrated strong speed here at home, and now the goal is to carry that performance onto the world stage."

The Women's World Trophy team is unchanged: Korie Steede, Brandy Richards, and Rachel Gutish. That trio already owns the last three Women's titles, and the AMA says they are eyeing a fourth straight crown in Portugal. Richards enters as the reigning women's individual ISDE champion, per the AMA announcement.

"The Women's Team will remain unchanged. Brandy, Korie, and Rachel continue to make up a fantastic team, and we are looking forward to defending our title once again," Kallonen said. "This trio is at the top of their game right now, but we are approaching the race like any other. We know we will need to stay focused through all six days of racing to achieve our goal."

Seven Club teams, 21 more Americans

Alongside the 10 Trophy riders, 21 Club riders earned U.S. starts through the AMA's East and West Coast qualifiers. The seven three-rider Club teams named by the AMA are Team Rabaconda (Jhak Walker, Colton Shields, Thorn Devlin), Team GTBN (Layton Smail, Tyler Vore, Jaden Dahners), Team Missouri Mudders (Lane Whitmer, Will Sievenpiper, Collier Martinez), Team Mojo/SXS (Anson Maloney, Anthony Ferrante, Nathan Ferderer), Hough Legacy Racing Team (Clayton Gerstner, Lowe Lord, Chase Bright), Team XC Gear (Henry Symanski, Austin Tsakanikas, Trevor Hulin), and the Randy Mastin Memorial Team (Maverick Alaway, Levi Wilkins, Eric Forsberg).

That is 31 Americans in total for the centenary week - a full Trophy slate plus a deep Club presence when the event that still defines national enduro pride hits its 100th running.

Who else is in the hunt

The FIM's centenary preview and Enduro21's full teams list sketch a stacked World Trophy field without handing anyone the trophy early. Defending champions Italy return with Andrea Verona leading a four-rider squad. Sweden and France fill out last year's podium picture. Spain lines up behind Josep García, the individual winner of the past five editions. Australia brings a strong quartet. Great Britain arrives with Brad Freeman, Nathan Watson, Jed Etchells, and a late replacement after Steve Holcombe's withdrawal.

Holcombe is out after a left-wrist issue that requires surgery, ending his 2026 season early and forcing him off Team GB for Portugal, per Dirt Hub. Manx rider Jamie McCanney has been drafted into the British Men's Trophy team in his place, Isle of Man Today reports. McCanney was part of the GB squad that won overall in 2022 alongside Etchells, Watson, and Holcombe.

Portuguese colors on the specials

KTM marked the centenary the only way a factory that lives for Six Days would. The 2027 KTM 500 EXC-F 6DAYS wears a color and graphic package inspired by the Portuguese landscape and national colors for the 100th edition, scheduled for the same Grândola week.
