Wil Ruprecht sealed the 2026 Yamaha Australian Enduro Championship presented by MXstore Pro Enduro title at the Coonalpyn, South Australia finale (Rounds 11-12, September 5-6). Per MCNews' report and Yamaha Racing / Dirt Action championship notes, the Shop Yamaha Off Road rider finished the season on 249 points - 28 clear of Korey McMahon (DM31 Racing KTM) on 221, with Jye Dickson third on 210 - and completed a Pro Enduro plus E2 double after leading both classes from round one.

Ruprecht went into the Coonalpyn finale in South Australia (September 5-6) with a 19-point Pro Enduro lead, and this is how the weekend played out. Coonalpyn also crowned the last E2 and E3 champions before those classes fold into an all-capacity Pro Enduro class for 2027, with E1 becoming Pro Lites.

How the finale set up

After Kempsey (Rounds 9-10), the official AusEnduro report had Ruprecht on 215 points, McMahon on 196 and Dickson on 163. Transmoto's title-math preview pointed out that Ruprecht had won seven of nine Pro Enduro rounds on the WR450F and was carrying unfinished business after losing the previous year's title to Daniel Milner. The format added pressure: a three-hour cross-country on Saturday, then a traditional sprint program on Sunday, with 12 senior and junior titles decided by the end of the weekend. Transmoto also noted that the Saturday race would be Jess Gardiner's 150th AusEnduro start since 2010.

Saturday: sand, wind, and a narrower lead

Saturday’s three-hour cross-country flipped the title math. Wind gusts over 60 km/h and deep South Australian sand suited McMahon, who won Pro Enduro Round 11 in 3:14:39.242 - nearly two minutes clear of teammate Dickson, with Kogan Lock third and Ruprecht fifth (7:53.850 back). That cut Ruprecht’s championship lead from 19 points to 10 (231-221). McMahon also locked his second straight E3 title with a 10th consecutive E3 win on Saturday.

Sunday: the duel ends early

Sunday’s anticipated duel ended in the opening sprint. McMahon crashed heavily, remounted to finish that test, then withdrew and scored no further Round 12 points. With the pressure gone, Ruprecht rode fourth overall while Dickson swept all eight Sunday tests for the final Pro Enduro round win of 2026. Ruprecht’s quote to Yamaha/Dirt Action and MCNews: he hoped McMahon was okay, said it was “not the way I wanted to win it,” and noted that once McMahon was out there was “no point doing anything silly.”

Season body of work and other crowns

Ruprecht won seven of the 11 rounds contested after Round Two at Roma was cancelled, and he had narrowly missed the 2025 title to Daniel Milner. E2 final: Ruprecht 258, Dickson 222, Lock 218 - Ruprecht becomes the last E2 champion before the 2027 class reshape. Other Coonalpyn titles called out by Yamaha Racing: Cooper Sheidow E1 (261 pts, second career E1 crown), Jess Gardiner a record-extending 10th EW title, plus junior plates including Harley Hutton J4, Lorna Lock Junior Girls, and Clancy Stewart J1.

For U.S. riders, Coonalpyn is a reminder of how fast a title decider can turn. Saturday almost reopened the fight and Sunday's crash closed it, and nobody wants a championship settled that way.
