Dual-Sport Owners: NHTSA 26V443 Owner Letters Begin for FE/ES Rear Caliper Recall

Street-legal dual-sport owners in the Husqvarna FE S and GasGas ES families should watch the mailbox and dealer queue: NHTSA campaign 26V443 covers certain 2022–2024 Husqvarna FE 350S and FE 501S models plus 2024 GasGas ES 350 and ES 500 dual-sports.

The defect description centers on a J.Juan/Braktec rear caliper that can crack when the motorcycle is rolling backward and subsequently fail in forward motion — a crash hazard on dirt or pavement. Dealers were notified earlier; owner notification letters were expected to begin mailing on September 2, 2026.

The remedy is free rear-caliper replacement at an authorized dealer. Do not wait for the letter if you already see caliper damage or feel rear-brake fade — contact a dealer with your VIN and ask for campaign 26V443 service.

This dual-sport NHTSA track is separate from, but related to, the August 20 CPSC off-road Braktec stop-ride recall covering a much larger GasGas/Husqvarna dirt fleet. Plated FE/ES bikes belong in the NHTSA lane; off-road-only MC/EC/EX/EW and TE/FX/TX units belong in the CPSC lane.
