Honda XR300L and XR300 Rally Priced in India: Air-Cooled Dual-Sports, Not Our CRF300L
Honda opened bookings in India today for the made-there XR300L and XR300 Rally at Rs 183,000 and Rs 208,000 Bangalore ex-showroom. Same 293.5cc air- and oil-cooled CB300F-related single, 21/18 spokes, switchable ABS and HSTC. North America still has the liquid-cooled CRF300L pair. India is the market Honda has confirmed.
If you ride a dual-sport in the U.S. or Europe, Honda's small trail bike is already a known machine: the liquid-cooled CRF300L and CRF300L Rally. Today, Oct. 5, 2026, Honda put prices and BigWing bookings on a different XR-badged pair built for India - cheaper, air- and oil-cooled, and so far confirmed only for that market.
The XR300L lands at Rs 183,000 Bangalore ex-showroom (about $1,900 at today's rates). The XR300 Rally is Rs 208,000 (about $2,160). Both figures come from Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India's live product pages and match Autocar India, India Today, and Car and Bike. The bikes were shown in July; pricing went live today. Honda says detailed India specs unlock later in the fiscal year, with deliveries after that.
What India actually got
Both models share a 293.5cc single related to the CB300F - air-cooled with an oil cooler, not the liquid-cooled mill in the CRF300L. Honda India has not posted a full power sheet yet. Outlets estimate roughly 24-25 hp and about 26 Nm from CB300F and export XR300L figures; treat those as outlet estimates until Honda India publishes its own numbers. Autocar India also notes revised exhaust routing versus the XR300L Honda already sells in Brazil and Colombia, likely for local emissions rules.
Hardware both bikes share, per Honda's July brief and the India product banners: 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels, long-travel telescopic fork and gas-charged Pro-Link monoshock, front and rear discs, switchable dual-channel ABS, and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). Exact India travel, seat height, and curb weight are still outstanding on the OEM pages.
Rally vs XR300L
For the Rs 25,000 step, the Rally adds the Dakar-styled package: larger fuel tank, taller windscreen, knuckle guards, rally bodywork, a 5-inch TFT, and more switchgear. Honda and the July unveil coverage also put Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity on the Rally. Seat height and weight should tick up slightly with the bigger tank; Honda has not locked those numbers for India yet.
Why a CRF300L rider should care
This is not a quiet rebadge of the bike North America already buys. The CRF300L and CRF300L Rally stay liquid-cooled, Euro-market refined machines with their own price ladder. The India XR pair is a locally built, XR-named dual-sport on the cheaper CB300F-related air-and-oil single - aimed at riders who want 21/18 trail geometry and switchable ABS without stepping into a bigger ADV. Visordown flagged the same point at the July reveal: Honda has only confirmed India so far, and markets that already stock the CRF300L have less reason to import a second 300-class trail bike.
What it says about Honda's small dual-sport plan is mostly regional. Keep the premium liquid-cooled CRF300 where it already sells. Spin a cost-down XR for a price-sensitive dual-sport boom (India's Xpulse and KLX230 neighborhood) with local assembly. South America already had an XR300L; India gets its own exhaust and trim path. None of that is a U.S. arrival notice. Honda has not announced North American availability for the XR300L or XR300 Rally.
Who it is for
In India, the buyer is the lightweight dual-sport shopper who wants Honda reliability, real spoke wheels, and ABS you can switch, at a sticker under the KLX230 and only a step above the Hero Xpulse 210 band - Autocar's local framing. For everyone else reading from a CRF300L driveway, the story is product strategy: Honda is willing to run two different 300-class dual-sport recipes at once, and the cheaper air-cooled XR is real enough to get a price and a BigWing booking button today.
Rider takeaway
India now has a priced, bookable XR300L and XR300 Rally on the CB300F-related air- and oil-cooled 293.5cc single, with 21/18 spokes, switchable ABS, and HSTC - Rally adds tank, screen, guards, TFT, and RoadSync. Power figures are still outlet estimates. Exhaust routing differs from South America's XR300L. North America keeps the liquid-cooled CRF300L and CRF300L Rally; Honda has not said these XR models are coming here.
