2027 Ducati Desmo450 MX: U.S.-Specific Suspension, Same $11,495 Price
Year two for Ducati's motocross bike brings a 51-tooth sprocket, Pirelli MX32 tires, reinforced parts, Wi-Fi predictive maintenance and suspension built for American tracks. U.S. MSRP holds at $11,495 with dealer arrivals in late October, but the 2027 Factory version skips North America.
Ducati's motocross bike just finished its first full year of racing, and the 2027 Desmo450 MX is what the factory learned from it. Shorter gearing, tougher parts and, for the first time, a suspension package set up specifically for American tracks - and the U.S. price stays put at $11,495, according to Ducati North America's October 8 release.
None of this is a new generation. Ducati calls it an evolution, and the global release on Ducati Media House frames it the same way: feedback from the race program flowing straight into the bike you can buy. The 449.6 cc Desmodromic single, the aluminum frame and the electronics package carry over. What changed is the stuff riders actually complained about or broke.
What's new on every 2027 Desmo450 MX
The headline change is a new final drive with a 51-tooth rear sprocket. Ducati says that puts more torque to the rear wheel and sharpens the drive off corners. The fuel filler grows to 40 mm so pit-side refills go faster, the shift lever and rear brake pedal get redesigned tips, and the bike now rolls on Pirelli Scorpion MX32 Mid-Soft tires in 80/100-21 and 110/90-19.
The durability list reads like a year of race-shop notes. Ducati revised the starter motor gear coupling tolerances, gave the water pump oil seal new geometry and a Teflon coating, and reinforced the exhaust manifold where it meets the silencer. The chain guide support, fork slider guards and front engine-to-frame brackets were also beefed up. Visually, the white logos are gone in favor of black ones.
Claimed output is unchanged at 63.5 hp at 9,400 rpm and 39.5 lb-ft at 7,500 rpm, and the Showa suspension still offers 310 mm of fork travel and 301 mm at the shock. Traction control, launch control, quick shift and engine brake control remain standard, with riding modes adjustable through the accessory X-Link app.
Maintenance intervals that follow how you ride
The most unusual addition is predictive maintenance. With Ducati's accessory Wi-Fi module fitted, the bike analyzes usage data and adjusts engine service intervals to actual riding conditions instead of a fixed hour count. For a privateer juggling a race budget, that could mean fewer top-end jobs done early just to be safe. Ducati hasn't published a price for the module in the U.S. release, so factor that in as an unknown.
A Desmo450 MX built for American dirt
This is the part U.S. buyers should care about most. Ducati North America says the 2027 bike gets suspension changes developed from testing and rider feedback across the United States. Up front, the triple clamps move to a 22 mm offset, replacing the previous 20 mm setup, and the fork gets a revised shim stack, a new oil level and a low-speed valve for more chassis support. Out back, the shock spring rate goes from 46 N/mm to 50 N/mm with a revised shim stack, aimed at better support on jumps and landings and more stability on fast tracks. Motocross Action's first look reports the same 22 mm figure from Ducati North America.
One caveat worth flagging: the global release on Ducati Media House describes the U.S. clamp change the other way around, as 20 mm instead of 22 mm. We're going with the North American release, since that's the bike U.S. dealers will actually sell, and we'll update if Ducati clarifies.
Price and when it lands
MSRP stays at $11,495 in the U.S., and the 2027 Desmo450 MX starts arriving at select North American dealers in late October, per Ducati. In Europe, both the standard bike and the Factory version go to selected dealers first, with the rest of the world to follow.
The Factory version stays a 2026 bike here
The 2027 Desmo450 MX Factory picks up every update above plus a full Akrapovič titanium exhaust with its own mapping that saves 1.7 kg, Showa suspension with Kashima Extra Dark and TiO treatments, billet triple clamps, a holeshot device, sump guard, front disc cover, an O-ring RK MXU chain, and the Wi-Fi module for configuring riding modes. It wears a new Ducati Corse livery with a red and black logo, as Inside Motorcycles and Visordown also detail.
North America doesn't get it. Ducati says the 2027 Factory won't be sold here, and the limited-edition 2026 Factory remains the only Factory model available to U.S. and Canadian buyers.
Where it fits in the Desmo450 family
The MX is the foundation for everything else Ducati is doing off-road. If you want the same platform with a plate and lights, our look at the 2027 Desmo450 EDS covers Ducati's street-legal enduro version. And if you want to see where the race program goes next, the factory team just signed R.J. Hampshire to ride the Desmo450 MX for Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati in 2027.
Rider takeaway
Year two is where you find out whether a new manufacturer is serious, and Ducati answered with the boring, useful stuff: gearing, seals, brackets, tires and a suspension setup tuned for the dirt most of our readers ride. Same $11,495 sticker, late October arrivals. If you were waiting for the first-year bugs to shake out before putting a Ducati in the van, this is the model year to go ride one.
